The energy transition is noticeable everywhere, including in the shipping industry. There is huge potential for CO2 savings here, which is indispensable for modern, global goods transport. Anyway, the path to a still unknown maritime “fuel of the future” takes time. A first step towards decarbonization that can be implemented in the short term is the use of drop-in-capable bio-oils from various feedstocks.
One of these new feedstocks is the waste product of the cashew nut. Its hard shell contains a brown viscous liquid known as cashew nutshell liquid, CNSL. Current research also focuses on the possible applications of POCC (pyrolysis oil from cashew cake), which is obtained from cashew shell press cake. POCC is therefore even a product made from the waste product of a waste product of the cashew shell. As these new blend components are not adequately covered by current standards, extensive tests and analyses are required to ensure the safe use of these bio-oils.
We offer you the complete spectrum for testing your fuel: starting with basic laboratory analyses, through various component tests, to tests in real engines.
